Recover Deleted Exchange 2003 Public Folder

After deleting a public folder, the normal method of using "Recover Deleted Items..." within Outlook failed, causing the following error:

Outlook was unable to recover some or all of the items in this folder. Make sure you have the required permissions to recover items in this folder and try again. If the problem persists contact your administrator.

This error occurred even when logged on as the Administrator.

Apparently Outlook Web Access (OWA) can also recover deleted items, often with more success the Outlook. To access the "Recover Deleted Items" function via OWA, use the following URL:

http://server/public/parent_folder/?cmd=showdeleted&btnClose=1

where:

server = your Exchange server's name (and if necessary port number)
parent_folder = the folder that contains the deleted items you wish to recover
